School
Maestro II is a comprehensive teacher productivity tool. The included
gradebook program is the most advanced program available and supports
a wide variety of different grading methods. The program is suitable
for use by individual instructors or entire school systems. Single,
group and network licenses are available. In addition to the gradebook
features, the program also tracks attendance, does seating charts, records
subjective grades such as conduct and citizenship, creates reusable
lesson plans, report cards, honor rolls, GPAs, and transcripts. The
program also tracks appointments and maintains contact information.
The program can be used to produce fully formatted form letters which
may include a customizable letterhead with logo. Form letters may also
be emailed. Progress reports, attendance reports, and homework assignments
may also be posted to the Internet. Students may access their reports
using any computer and browser.
School Maestro is highly customizable and allows you to add your own
database fields and create your own queries. Extensive import and export
features are provided. The School Maestro database is extremely secure
to protect confidential information and is encrypted. The program supports
4 types of users - master users, teacher users, secretary users and
counselor users. All user access is controlled by passwords. Master
users are also allowed direct access to the database. The database used
is a Microsoft Access database. Master users may create their own custom
input forms, queries, reports, tables, etc., and use all the features
of Microsoft Access and other programs such as Word or Excel to create
custom reports. However, customization is usually not required since
the program includes a large number of various types of reports that
are user configurable.
School Maestro is a 32 bit program and requires Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000.
The minimum hardware platform recommended is a 133 MHz Pentium with
32 MB of memory.Program features:
- Single, group, and network licenses are available. Additional
licenses may be added at any time.
- Supports master, teacher, secretary, and counselor type users
with customizable privilege levels. All users require a password.
The password requirement may be disabled if you are running the
program on a secure computer.
- Easy to use toolbar and tree view interface. You may easily
drill down to get the desired data without having to run a report.
- Internet report posting allows students/parents to retrieve
their reports at any time. Form letters may also be emailed.
- Supports dropped students. Dropped students may be left in classes
for record purposes but are not included in class statistics or
reports.
- School years may be named as desired. Multiple school years
per calendar year are supported. School years may include up to
3 semesters. Each semester may include up to 6 marking periods.
- Marking periods may be named as desired such as Quarter 1 or
Second Six Weeks (typ).
- Unlimited user defined subjects. For each subject you may specify
the name, credit hours, catalog number and description, whether
it is used in gpa calculations, the type of grading scheme used,
whether it has a semester exam, and whether it is used for recording
overall attendance or subjective grades. Custom fields may be added.
- Define your own grading schemes. A grading scheme may consist
of 0 (no letter grades used) up to 25 letter grades, each of which
may be up to 5 characters each (B+, Pass, etc.). Cutoffs for each
letter grade may be specified. For each grading scheme, you may
specify the gpa conversion factors. Different conversion factors
may be used for honors type subjects. Gpa values may optionally
be calculated from numeric averages instead of letter grades.
- Unlimited user defined task categories. Each class may use up
to 25 different task categories such as quiz, test, homework, etc.
- Supports tracking attendance by class or by daily overall. Attendance
may be recorded by code or by time. Unlimited user defined attendance
category codes such as Absence Unexcused, Tardy, Snow Day, etc.
A student's overall average may be automatically decreased due to
excessive absences. For each attendance code, you may specify how
many free absences are allowed and how much to deduct if the free
amount is exceeded. When recording attendance by time, it is tracked
to the nearest minute. Calculate the total minutes/hours present
and absent.
- Attendance may be entered on a per class basis (teacher entry)
or all classes at the same time (secretary entry).
- Classes can be automatically scheduled around user defined holidays.
Rolling block schedules are supported. You may specify the number
of days in the block, and whether to skip certain weekdays and holidays.
Easily reschedule a class due to a snow day or other cancellation.
- User specified codes for not entered scores and not counted
scores. The initial score for tasks may be specified. The default
score may be specified if no score is entered.
- Scores may be entered and displayed as raw scores, percentage
scores, letter grade scores or as text. Letter grade scores and
raw scores may be entered simultaneously for the same task.
- Calculate the overall average by summing all the points or by
using an exact or relative weight for each task category.
- Calculate task category averages by summing the points in a
category or by averaging the percentage scores of tasks in a category.
- Discard the worst "n" scores per category.
- Base the weight of extra credit on the extra credit points or
use a weighted extra credit category.
- Optionally use attendance scores when calculating the overall
average.
- Enter students directly into a class or assign students to classes
from a master student list or from any other class. Transfer students
between classes. Import students to the program. Students may be
imported directly to a class.
- Individual tasks in a category may be weighted differently.
- Support for automatically recalculated custom tasks whose scores
depend on other tasks. Custom task scores may be calculated from
the sum, average, highest, lowest, difference, reverse, or the number
not entered or not counted of other task scores. A custom task may
also be used to increment, ratio, or curve an existing task to a
desired mean. When curving task scores, the original score is retained.
- Class averages may be unrounded, rounded to the nearest tenth
or rounded to the nearest whole number before a letter grade is
assigned.
- Semester averages may be calculated by averaging the marking
period averages and optional semester exam average. Semester averages
may be unrounded, rounded to the nearest tenth or rounded to the
nearest whole number. Semester grades can be assigned from the semester
average or may be calculated using the letter grades from each marking
period and optional semester exam. When using the marking period
letter grades to calculate the semester letter grade, the gpa conversions
for the subject are used.
- Live updates to points, averages, letter grades, and statistics
as scores are entered. Great for "what if" analysis.
- Manually override any program assigned letter grade.
- Enter a comment for each task for each student.
- Record a daily attendance comment for each student.
- Record user definable subjective grades such as conduct and
citizenship.
- Use an existing class as a template for new classes.
- Transfer tasks to any class. Great if you teach several hours
of the same subject or use the same tasks from year to year or marking
period to marking period.
- Import student pictures. Supports bmp, gif, jpeg, wmf, emf,
rle and ico files. Pictures may be included on seating charts or
on student data reports.
- Add custom fields for recording any type of student information.
Easily import student data from other programs.
- Extensive support for including and saving teacher comments
on progress reports and report cards.
- Network versions may operate in live workstation mode (direct
access to the master database). Report settings and program defaults
are saved on a per user basis.

preference).
- Easily record appointments and keep a Things To Do list.
- Record and maintain contact information. Add your own custom
fields for contact data.
- Edit and save lesson plans by subject using user defined headings.
Automatically assign subject lesson plans to classes or drag and

picture and optional blocks for data entry.
- Automatically assign student id numbers and passwords.
- Automatically start new marking periods with all the same classes
