TM IconTest Maestro II is an advanced test generating program that will automatically create fully formatted tests from a test bank of questions you enter or import. It includes a full featured word processor for composing the questions. Questions may use different fonts, font sizes, bold facing, italics, color, sub and superscripts, paragraph alignments, borders, etc.

Test questions may be fully formatted. There is no restriction - you can enter whatever type of question you want. There is full support for inserting pictures as well as OLE objects. Thus you can insert Clip Art, Excel spreadsheets, Excel charts, Word documents, Word equations and tables, Visio drawings, etc. If you prefer, you can use your existing word processor to create or edit the questions.

All of the questions and tests are stored in an encrypted, password protected database for security. Questions are stored by user defined subjects. Each subject may include units such as chapters, lessons, blocks, and sections. Each unit may be given a descriptive unit name. Numerous fields are available for recording the question description, author information, reference information, teacher comments, the correct answer, type of question, and grade level. You may specify whether you want the question to include a leader blank for entering the answer and the length of the leader blank.

Most operations are done in a hierarchical outline view that you can drill down on to get more detailed information. Each test may be formatted independently. You may specify the page margins, the number of columns and the spacing between columns. You can also specify if you want the date and/or a name blank for the student to enter his name to be included on the first page, even pages, odd pages or all pages and whether you want to include page numbers (you can specify the beginning page number). You may also optionally include a test title and whether you want to include some test instructions. You may specify the fonts (name, size, bold, italic, color, underline) for the headers and footers, title, instructions and questions. The program will optionally include question numbers on the test.

To add questions to a test, you just drag and drop the questions you want to include. You can drag and drop them in any desired order or the program can randomize the order if you need to print several versions of the test. The program can print out a test booklet that may be used when selecting questions from your local test bank or imported test bank. After selecting the questions you want to include on an exam, they are automatically flowed into the layout you select (up to 4 columns). This exam may then be printed but is still fully editable. Thus you can still type in and insert additional information such as instructions or a graphic that may pertain to a group of questions. Column and page breaks can be adjusted using a fully zoomable print preview. The modified exam may be saved for future use. The program can print an answer key containing the answers and may also print an answer sheet that may be used by students if you do not want them to write on the exam itself.

The program is designed for multiple instructor use, with or without a network. In this mode, when you enter a question, you can specify if you want it to be public. Public questions may be used by other instructors on their exams. If you want to share or publish your test questions for others not on the network to use, you can export them to a test bank. Other users may then import the test bank and use the questions. Questions that contain OLE objects may be edited if the user has the required server (such as Excel). If not, the questions may still be printed in their original format.

Questions may be imported or exported in rtf (rich text format) file format. They may also be copied and pasted to and from other programs that support rtf (most word processors). Tests may be exported to a pdf file for use on the web.
